למה בכלל לצייר?Why draw at all?
כי ציור מחבר. בינך לבין מה שמולך, ובינך לבין אנשים שלא פגשת מעולם. זו הסיבה שאני מצייר, וזו הסיבה שאני מלמד.Because drawing connects. You to what is in front of you, and you to people you have never met. That is why I draw, and that is why I teach.

ציור שנשאר באמצע לא מלמד כלום. ציור שסיימת, גם כשלא יצא, מלמד הכול. האחריות של מי שמצייר היא ללכת עד הסוף.A drawing left halfway teaches nothing. A drawing you finished, even a failed one, teaches everything. The responsibility of anyone who draws is to go all the way.

היד כמעט אף פעם לא הבעיה.The hand is almost never the problem.
הבעיה היא שעדיין לא ידעת מה לחפש. צורה, ערך, קצה. ברגע שהעין משתנה, היד משתנה אחריה, כמעט מעצמה. זה הדבר הראשון שאני מלמד.The problem is that you did not yet know what to look for. Shape, value, edge. The moment the eye changes, the hand changes after it, almost by itself. It is the first thing I teach.

ציור טוב הוא סדרה של החלטות.A good drawing is a series of decisions.
איפה להתחיל. מה להשאיר בחוץ. מתי לעצור. אף אחת מההחלטות האלה לא דורשת כישרון. את כולן אפשר ללמוד, ואת כולן אני מלמד.Where to start. What to leave out. When to stop. None of those decisions needs talent. All of them can be learned, and all of them are what I teach.

להופיע. גם ביום שאין השראה.Show up. Even on the day without inspiration.
לא מחכים להשראה. הולכים אליה. מגיעים אל הדף גם כשקשה, ולא עוצרים באמצע.You do not wait for inspiration. You walk to it. You get to the page even when it is hard, and you do not stop halfway.

לא כל קרב הוא שלך.Not every battle is yours.
העולם דופק על הדלת בלי הפסקה. המגן לא נועד לברוח ממנו. הוא שומר על הזמן, על הקשב ועל השקט שבו העבודה נולדת.The world never stops knocking. The shield is not for hiding from it. It guards the time, the attention and the quiet where the work is born.
